VDV-Schrift 183 Procurement and Maintenance of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems......[PDF Datei]

VDV Recommendation 183 deals with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC systems) for urban rail vehicles. It is based on the experience of the VDV member companies and considers the generally accepted technical rules. It is to provide the employees of public transport companies responsible for urban rail vehicles with relevant information about the procurement and maintenance of such systems because they e.g. require that the workshop staff has special qualifications and that the workshop has special equipment and special storage possibilities.

The first edition of VDV Recommendation 183 was prepared upon request of the VDV Committee on Urban Rail Rolling Stock because there did not exist suitable rules and standards on e.g. the maintenance of air conditioning systems for driver’s cabs and passenger compartments and because the existing rules and standards did not consider the special characteristics of rail vehicles, e.g. limited space, operating conditions and power supply for fixed air conditioning systems.

It became necessary to revise the original VDV Recommendation 183, which was published in 2016, because the EU Regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases was amended and because the European Standard EN 779 on the selection of air filters was replaced by the international standard EN ISO 18690.

This edition of VDV Recommendation 183 supersedes VDV Recommendation 183 from 2016.
