VDV-Recommandation 604: Types of Track Formation and Track Formation Designs for Urban Rail System [Print]

The VDV document 604 "Types of track and superstructure forms in local railways", edition 2019, replaces the previous VDV document 604 "Types of track and superstructure forms in local railways", edition 1995.

Technical developments necessitated a major revision of the 1995 edition, which had been prepared by ABB's Subcommittee 1 "Carriageway" in recent years. The present document is intended to be an aid for the selection of superstructure types and superstructure forms; it is to be understood as a supplement to the track guidelines (VDV document 600). It does not want to be a textbook, much less does it want to provide "recipes"; moreover, it cannot and does not want to represent a historical collection of all executed track designs.

It therefore does not claim to be exhaustive. It deliberately refrains from a "ready-to-design" representation of the track designs in order not to restrict the variety of application and combination possibilities.
