VDV-Recommendation No. 882: “Procedure for determining personnel key figures for
the maintenance of rail vehicles in accordance with BOStrab“ [PDF]

With this document, the VDV committee for depots and workshops provides assistance in determining key
personnel figures for the maintenance of rail vehicles in accordance with BOStrab.
This document serves to positioning of existing depots and workshops and as a guideline for the staffing of new
depots. Modern vehicle techniques and equipment are taken into account, as are the maintenance procedures
and workshop structures that have been adapted in recent years.
With this document, the VDV expert committee for depots and workshops wants to contribute to the fact that
the VDV companies can prove their economic efficiency and competitiveness. Due to complex technical
changes and the additional challenges of the traffic system transformation, the adaptation of this document
will also be necessary in the future.
The workshop personnel ratio determined using this recommendation is a key component in determining the
cost per kilometer and represents the industry standard.
This VDV recommendation replaces the version of VDV recommendation 882 "Key figures for workshop
personnel requirements - maintenance of rail vehicles in accordance with BOStrab" of 2000.
