VDV-Recommendation 461: Real-time Data Interface between the Automatic Vehicle Location and Control System [Print]

The first version of VDV Specification 461 was developed in 2009 within the framework of the ITCS to BMS interface projects of Stuttgart (SSB) and Augsburg (STAWA) by the companies Continental and PSI. The document "Actual Data Interface ITCS - BMS" defines uniform framework requirements for the design of interfaces between ITCS (Intermodal Transport Control System) and BMS (Depot Management System). In addition to principle and cross-functional requirements, the requirements for data exchange in particular are described in detail.
VDV Specification 461 is intended to promote uniformity, modularity and maintainability of software and hardware for the purpose of comprehensive data exchange.
The SIRI / VDV461 BMS services are implemented as a module on the communication infrastructure according to the subscription procedure and thus represent supplementary technical services within the framework of the general basic infrastructure. They fit into the overall concept of the ITCS universal interface and therefore have all the advantages of this technology.
Although several communication procedures are defined in the SIRI, for the time being only the 2-step subscription procedure (with DataReadyNotification) is used for the VDV461.
The BMS services can also be implemented without realising the technical services of VDV 453. They therefore represent independent implementation modules in the sense of SIRI / VDV 461.

- Information on the vehicle condition especially for buses (VehicleTellTale Group)
- Information regarding the expected status/value of selected vehicle parameters such as the expected state of charge (SoC) of the traction battery or the filling level of the fuel tank at the time of service yard entry (VehicleStatusInfoGroup).
