The procurement and deployment of battery-powered e-buses and e-buses with an additional fuel cell are
already common practice in many public transport companies.
However, the coming into force of the Supply Chain Act and the EU Battery Regulation present a major
challenge for many transport companies, especially small and medium-sized ones. In particular, the long-term
consideration and evaluation of procurement projects in terms of sustainability, environmental and climate
protection and human rights are new for many transport companies in this form. The sustainability criteria
developed by the sub-working group (SWG) “Sustainable procurement of e-buses" can be helpful here.
The standardization of technical definitions and framework conditions for the evaluation of properties such as
range serves to create greater transparency of offers.
VDV-Report 8003 “Special contractual conditions for e-bus batteries” provides valuable guidance for drafting
company-specific contractual conditions and for enforcing claims against e-bus manufacturers. It contains
information and explanations regarding the content of contractual terms and conditions. Furthermore, text
samples can be taken for concrete applications.
